💻 Prompts
In the world of Large Language Models such as ChatGPT, remember one guiding principle: "Accurate Inputs = Accurate Outputs". This wisdom resonates with the age-old computing mantra, "Garbage in, Garbage out".
If you're thinking about using a broad question like, "What are the most important news today?" with ChatGPT, think again. The model might return a stream of interesting headlines, but they may not be specifically useful to your investment research.
To demonstrate, I've used ChatGPT (GPT4) and Link Reader plugin to ask that very question (and to summarize the answer in bullet points):
What's interesting is that ChatGPT tailored its response to focus on financial news, thanks to the profile information where I'm identified as an investment professional. So, context is crucial. Without that context, the model's output could be vastly different. After all, what qualifies as "important news" varies from person to person—ChatGPT is no different in that respect.
This is where the fine art of 'prompt engineering' comes into play. Craft your questions with precision, and you'll receive outputs that are not just accurate but also highly relevant. Think of this not just as a technical skill, but as a form of artistry that can powerfully augment your research capabilities.
For those who wish to further fine-tune their expertise in this area, we have compiled a succinct guide on 7 essentials of prompt engineering for investors. If you find this guide useful, please share it within your network to contribute to the collective growth of specialized knowledge.
